Back to the Bump & Grind

IMG_0872

Labor Day is fast approaching and summer is winding down, so that means “Back to School!” Karsyn started the 3rd grade at West Valley, joining Mrs. Swanson’s class. She’s pretty happy, because a group of her friends are also in the same class. She’s excited about moving up to a new grade.

I really enjoy blogging about the start of school, because it was Karsyn’s first day of Kindergarten that motivated me to start a blog in the first place. That means I’ve been writing about the daily goings on of our family for three years now! The posts have been few and far between this summer, but a lot has been going on. Hopefully I’ll find more time and energy to devote to the blog.

One point of interest is the fact that Ry Ry has officially started preschool. He spent a couple of days a week in a preschool program last year, but the 3-year-olds get a little more structure in their class. He’s joined by three other boys that he knows from last year’s class, so it’ll be interesting for the teachers.

Four little boys that work as a team will be entertaining if nothing else. Sonya and I dropped Ry off at class and he seemed to take it all in stride. He dealt with the whole separation (from mom) anxiety thing last year, so going to class was no big deal.

He was pretty amused when he learned that his big sister had been in the same class only 4 years earlier. When I talked to him about his first day, he was most eager to tell me about all the cool toys that his classroom calls home. Such is the life of a 3-year-old boy.

The fall will be as busy as ever. Sonya is now coaching Karsyn’s soccer team, which makes me really happy. I couldn’t think of a better person to coach a girls soccer team. Sonya knows the game, and can relate really well with the girls. She has some kids that are natural soccer players, so it’ll be interesting to see how it all turns out.

My big objective before the midway point of the soccer season is to buy myself my big birthday present…a digital SLR camera. I love shooting the kids sporting events, and the only thing I’ve been coveting for the last couple of years is a nice camera. I’ve been talking to my sister about which equipment to buy, but that only makes we more confused. Hopefully I can pull it off in the next two months. Yes, I am a procrastinator.

Check back often, I promise to post more often.
