If you haven’t seen Ryan in a while, one of the first things you notice about him is that his speaking skills are beginning to hone themselves. The little guy has inherited his sister’s gift of gab. He’s not as far along developmentally as Karsyn was at this age, but it’s still pretty amazing to see how his speech is developing.

He is however still only 22 months old, so you also have to get used to his versions of words. I’ve decided to dedicate this post to defining some of the more frequently used word in his repertoire (and by used, this typically means repeating the word 50 times until you acknowledge him).

The Ry Ry Phrase : The Actual Phrase

“kiki” : “blanket” (he’s starting to attach himself at the hip to this dang thing)

“chet-chup” : “ketchup” (most lunch and dinner items must be submerged in chet-chup)

“Sarsyn” : “Karsyn” (as in big sis)

“A doing” : “what are you doing?” (a doing momma? A doing momma?...repeat 50 times)

“welcome” : “you’re welcome”

“hockey stick” : “golf club” (anything long a weapon-like is a hockey stick)

“baff” : “bath” (as in “what are you waiting for, draw my baff now!”)

“ok?” : “are you ok?” (typically asked after he rams into your shins or wakes you up with a pile driver)

“sawie” : “sorry” (typically preceded by “ok?”)

“copter” : “helicopter”

“prane” : “airplane”

“habi” : “haraboji (or “grandfather” in Korean)
